Themis, 1969
Themis, 1969 is inspired by a time and a place: Themis Boutique on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, which The Doors’ lead singer Jim Morrison financed for his girlfriend, Pamela Courson, in the Winter of 1968/1969. Pam and Jim named the boutique after the ancient Greek goddess of divine order.
In homage to the first heady months after the boutique opened, Themis, 1969 conjures the natural scents of Southern California in springtime, as well as aromas that Pamela would have encountered during her shopping excursions to Morocco with notes of burnt seashells, yuzu, honeysuckle, orange blossom, patchouli, amber, vanilla, and sandalwood.
